Pack2School 2018!

By Jessica Dieken

It’s the most exciting time of the year – it’s time to go back to school!

The smell of a fresh box of crayons and the sound of cracking open a brand spanking new notebook stirs excitement in parents and dread in kiddos. For the staff at OtterCares, this time of year gives us the opportunity to help students prepare for their new school year full of learning and discovery – and it is something we’re proud to do every year since 2013!

Our 2018 Pack2School event was one of our favorite events to date. Thanks to the passionate volunteers from Otter Products and Blue Ocean Enterprises, we were able to provide Poudre School District students backpacks, rulers and more!

The day was also filled with fun, hands-on learning experiences for students and their families. For the first time ever, our Pack2School guests had the opportunity to engage with our giant Innovation Station! Our Innovation Station, complete with Legos, robots and even a 3D printer, was an exciting opportunity for students to learn skills like circuitry and programming while developing entrepreneurial characteristics like perseverance and problem-solving, all while having fun!

In addition to our Innovation Station, students also learned that they are philanthropists who can make a difference in their communities. We asked students to tell us what their #projectheart is, and how they can use their 3Ts – time, talent and/or treasure – to give back. Students walked away knowing that no matter their age, background or ability, they have the power to make a real difference!

At the end of an amazing day, 1,768 students left Pack2School ready for a new school year and learned that they have the power to change the world!

Thank you to the 248 volunteers who donated over 770 hours to make this year’s Pack2School event a huge success!
